Eligibility Criteria
To ensure participants safety and suitability for the research, the inclusion and exclusion criteria set out below, have been approved by the Southern Institute of Technology Human Research Ethics Committee.

Inclusion criteria. You might want to take part if all of the following apply to you:
- Independently living
- aged 18+
- living in Invercargill
- raised blood pressure that does not require medication.
Exclusion criteria. We cannot invite you to take part if any of the following apply to you:
- no access to the internet and/or personal email
- unable to attend for the study duration (end of April 2021, see Important Dates)
- essential or secondary arterial hypertension
- anti-hypertensive medication prescription
- any nasal pathology preventing nasal breathing, for example, allergic rhinitis and deviated septum
- recent (within 6 months) use of breathing techniques
- ongoing or medicated heart and lung conditions or problems (unless consented by your healthcare professional)
- pregnancy, lactating or intention to become pregnant during research (unless consented by your healthcare professional)
- more than one cardiovascular disease risk factors including: diabetes, hyperlipidaemia (high and uncontrolled cholesterol for instance), schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, familial hypercholesterolemia (unless consented by your healthcare professional).
